2009 Spring Makeup Trends

Hopefully spring will be here before we know it so why not get our sights set on the upcoming makeup trends? Ranging from subtle earth tones to intensive brights, spring makeup seems to cover all the bases and offers great looks for those who love a full face of cosmetics and those who go for a more natural look.
Here are 4 major makeup trends for spring 2009.

Earth Tones


Spring '09 beauty trends include lots of gold - bronzed lids and faces. Apply eye makeup in earthy tones; beiges, browns, golds or plums for shadows.



Earth tone natural eye makeup quickie:

1. Use a neutral shadow all over lid in a yellow or bisque shade. Then apply a coordinating earth tone, such as a nutmeg, in the crease and along the lower lid and blend.
2. Apply a soft brown liner at the lash line and bottom lid, keep it subtle. For more impact, add a black liner to the top lash line.
3. Finish off with mascara

Nudes & Purples For Nails

Nude nail colors always tend to be popular as the weather warms up. I like that the spring shades making waves for 2009 aren’t totally transparent, they do have a bit of color depth in them. Try CND in Cocoa or Zoya Amanda.

If and when you get tired of the nudie colors, no need to worry since you aren’t destined to be wearing light pink. Chanel Le Vernis Nail Enamel in Vendetta is a deep dark juicy violet that I will wear for sure!

Facial highlighters are really hot this spring!

Guerlain Exotic Paradise Spring 2009

Guerlains vårkollektion "Exotic Paradise" för tankarna till en kryssning i Karibien eller en rendez-vous i Edens lustgård, och känns lite mer originell och fantasifull än Dior's vårkollektion.





Guerlain lanserar i samband med den här kollektionen även 10 nya singelögonskuggor (de utgick förra sommaren). Enligt företaget är dessa de största singelögonskuggorna på marknaden (mer än dubbelt så stora som MAC). Personligen är det argumentet inget som lockar mig till att köpa; jag har svårt nog att göra slut på ögonskuggor av "normalstorlek". När jag tänker efter så har det nog hittills aldrig hänt. Tröttnar alldeles för fort, samtidigt som det ständigt kommer nya, spännande kollektioner och färger som jag bara "måste ha". Nå'n som känner igen sig..?


Briefly in English: Guerlain's spring collection really makes me think of a cruise to a Caribbean destination! At the same time as Guerlain launches this collection, 10 new single eyeshadows are being relaunched (they were discontinued last summer).

Lady DIOR Color Collection - Spring 2009

Dior's vårkollektion har fått namnet "Lady Dior Color Collection" och har hämtat sin inspiration från Paris' kvinnor. Krämigt beige och rosigt rosa; Dior har satsat på ett säkert kort, det här har vi sett förut. Det är ingenting som sticker ut, direkt. Däremot har de prickat rätt rent trendmässigt, för dessa mjuka, skimriga pasteller är ett genomgående tema i många av vårens makeup kollektioner.
För mig personligen känns det här ganska slätstruket och lite tråkigt; ingen av produkterna i denna kollektionen väcker något större ha-begär, låt vara att förpackningarna som alltid är fantastiskt fina.



Kronjuvelen i den här kollektionen är den quiltade, handväskliknande paletten som innehåller en highlighter samt en liptint och pryds av små berlocker som tillsammans utgör DIOR logotypen. Ett förstklassigt samlarobjekt för den med tjock plånbok.

In English: Lady Dior is the name of Dior's spring makeup collection. The products are inspired by the Parisian women. Shades of creamy beige and rosy pink, muted neutrals. We've seen this before; there's not much new to this collection. Personally, I'm not too excited about it; frankly I think it's a bit boring. The jewel of the collection is the purse-shaped compact containing a multi purpose highlighter and a liptint. A true collector's item.
